College of William & Mary

The College of William & Mary (aka William & Mary or locally at W&M) is a public higher education institution and research university located in Williamsburg, Virginia. It was established in 1693, making it the second-oldest higher education institution in the nation after Harvard University. It is one of 9 original colonial schools and was established by King William III and Queen Mary II prior to the Revolutionary War. William & Mary is also recognized within the world of academia as a "Public Ivy" school that offers the same caliber and quality of education as that provided by "Private Ivies" including Standford, Harvard and Yale.

William & Mary provides both undergraduate and graduate degree programs and has an average annual enrollment of 8,500 students (6,300 undergraduate and 2,200 graduate). In partnership with the University of St. Andrews and Columbia University, William & Mary offers a joint international and engineering degree programs. William & Mary's graduate and professionals schools include public policy, law, computer science, marine science, business, colonial history and physics. The college is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The admission rate at William & Mary is just over 30%, the average GPA of entering freshman is 4.16 and over 90% of enrolled freshman have a GPA of at least 3.75. The ACT composite range for entering freshman is 29-33 and the average SAT scores are 640-730 (Reading), 620-720 (Writing) and 620-720 (Math). Over 60% of students who complete their undergraduate degree at William & Mary enroll in a graduate school with 5 years of graduation.

The undergraduate program at William & Mary consistently ranks among the top 10 undergraduate programs in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report, and the Washington Monthy reports that the college is ranked No.1 among national universities for placement of students in public service and government jobs.

Mason School of Business

The Raymond A. Mason School of Business offers one of the top ranked MBA programs in the nation. It also offers a top 10 ranked undergraduate business program. At the undergraduate level, the school offers the Bachelor's in Business Administration (BBA) degree with majors in Finance, Accounting, Operations and Information Systems Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Process Management and Consulting.

At the graduate level, Mason offers the Full-time MBA (21 months), Online MBA (fully online), Flex MBA (20 months), Masters in Accounting (1 year) and Master of Science in Business Analytics (1 year accelerated). Mason's MBA program is consistently ranked among the top MBA programs in the United States and offers concentrations in general management, information technology, finance, operations management and entrepreneurship.

Online Degrees and Programs

The College of William & Mary offers various online courses students can take as they work toward the completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree. Areas of study include biochemistry, Africana studies, statistics, health, macroeconomics, creative writing and software development. Online course availability varies by department. Online courses are available only to degree-seeking students enrolled in the college's campus program.
