Western Kentucky University (WKU) is an undergraduate and post-graduate institution of higher education locate on a 200-acre campus in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It was founded in 1906 and has a student body of approximately 21,000, which includes 19,600 undergraduate students and 3,000 graduate students. Western Kentucky University is administered by a staff 2,200 and has an academic staff of 770. In addition to its main campus in Bowling Green, WKU has regional campuses in Owensboro, Glasgow and Elizabethtown-Fort Knox.

Western Kentucky University is composed of six undergraduate academic colleges and offers associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in various fields of study and academic disciplines. Degrees awarded at WKU at the undergraduate level include the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.), Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies, Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Bachelor of Social Work. At the graduate level, degrees awarded include the Master of Arts (M.A.), Master of Science (M.S.), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Master of Accountancy, Master of Public Adminstration (MPA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Arts in Education (MAe), Master of Health Administration, Doctor of Nursing, Doctor of Education, Doctor of Social Work and Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Western Kentucky is well known for having one of the top forensics teams in the nation. It's student forensics team has won the National Forensic Association (NFA) and American Forensic Association (AFA) national championships almost every time it has entered the competition. Western Kentucy University is a highly ranked college. It was ranked No.10 among public master's universities by Forbes magazine.

Western Kentucky University is one of the top ranked universities in the United States in the category of distance learning degrees. Through WKU Online non-traditional students and working adults can earn a bachelor's or master's degree entirely online. Online bachelor's degree programs are offered in a variety of disciplines, including criminology, health care administration, sociology, computer technology, family studies, nursing and more. Online master's degrees are offered in business, health adminstration, higher education, elementary education, special education, history, criminology, biology and instructional design, to name just a few. Students also have the option of earning an online graduate certificate or endorsement online in various fields of study. For non-degree seeking students, WKU offers a plethora of individual classes and courses that can be completed remotely via the Internet.
