Villanova University

Villanova University is a private university that offers both an undergraduate and graduate-level education. It was established in 1842 by the Catholic Roman Church and continues that affiliation to the present day. It is the oldest Roman Catholic university in the state of Pennsylvania and is located in a suburb of Philadelphia. Even though Villanova has a strong affiiation with the Catholic Church, it accepts students of all denominations and faiths.

Villanova has an acceptance rate of just under 40%, making it a fairly selective university, but not as selective as other top universities and colleges. About 84% of entering freshman at Villanova are among the top 10% of their high school graduating class, and nearly 95% are among the top 20%. ACT scores for entering freshman range from 30-33 and average GPAs are just around 3.8 on a 4.0 scale.

Villanova University is one of the top ranked higher education institutions in the United States. U.S. News & World Report ranked Villanova No.1 on its list of "Best Masters Universities" in the North. Many of Villanova's individual programs also maintain top rankings including its undergraduate engineering program, which was ranked No.9 in its category. BusinessWeek ranked the Villanova School of Business 24th in the nation among undergraduate business schools in 2014.
