University of Wisconsin-Whitewater

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, locally referred to as UW-Whitewater, is a four-year college located on a 400-acre campus in Whitewater, Wisconsin. The university has a student body of approximately 12,000, which includes 11,000 undergraduate and 1,200 graduate students. The university is supported by a staff of just over 1,400. UW-Whitewater was founded in 1868 as the Whitewater Normal School – an institution dedicated to the education of teachers. The university is regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

UW-Whitewater offers over 1,000 individual college courses. At the undergraduate level, students can choose between 47 majors. UW-Whitewater offers 13 graduate degree programs. UW-Whitewater also offers an exceptional, and nationally ranked, online distance education program. Through the UW-Whitewater online degree program, students can earning their degree entirely online or just complete a few classes online – the choice is theirs. Online degrees are offered at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Online undergraduate degrees are offered in Business, Marketing, Liberal Studies, Law Enforcement, Political Science and Early Childhood Education. At the graduate level, online degrees are offered in Business (MBA), Library Media, Environmental Safety and Health, and Alternative Education Licensure.

Students attend UW-Whitewater not only because the university offers an outstanding academic program but because of the vibrant student life it offers. UW-Whitewater students can join one of over 180 on-campus clubs and organizations. Some of the more popular student clubs include The Royal Purple, Jitters Coffee Lounge, 91.7 The Edge, Ceramics Guild, Greek System and the Student Government (Whitewater Student Government). The Whitewater Student Government is one of the most popular student organizations.
