University of Nebraska Omaha

The University of Nebraska at Omaha, locally referred to at "Omaha" or "UNO", is a large public university located in Omaha, Nebraska. Even though the University of Nebraska at Omaha is a public higher education institution, it was founded by the Omaha Presbyterian Theological in 1908 as a private college. It was originally called the University of Omaha but had it's name changed to the University of Nebraska Omaha when, in 1968, it joined the public, state-sponsored University of Nebraska system.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha is growing rapidly. Over the last ten years, the university has almost doubled in size and has added several new student dormitories. New facilities are constantly being added to the university's campus to support a growing student body – specifically for its engineering, business and information technology programs. Currently, Omaha has a student body just north of 15,000. However, this figure is expected to top 20,000 by 2020 – making it one of the fastest growing universities in the state of Nebraska.

Through its 6 academic colleges, UNO offers over 200 undergraduate and graduate degrees. Popular majors and areas of study at UNO include computer science, engineering, bioinformatics, management information systems, technology, public administration and business, among many others. Many of UNO's programs are ranked among the top in the nation within their respective fields. Several programs offered through the School of Public Administration at UNO are among the top five in the nation, and UNO's online bachelor's degree program was ranked among the top 20 nationwide by U.S. News & World Report.

In addition to an exceptional campus-based offering, UNO also offers a top-ranked online degree program for students who want to pursue a college degree online or compliment their campus-based degree program through online learning. Many of UNO's undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered both on-campus and online. UNO offer bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and graduate certificates that can be completed entirely online. Students from more than 115 countries are pursuing their degree or earning a certificate through UNO Online.
