University of Central Florida

University of Central Florida (locally referred to as UCF) is a public higher education institution located just east of Orlando, Florida. A majority of students at UCF live in student housing on the university's 1,400-acre main campus. UCF also operates 12 satellite campuses located throughout the state of Florida. In terms of undergraduate enrollment, it is currently the largest university in the United States, second only to Arizona State University by total enrollment.

UCF is organized into 13 academic colleges which together offer 90 bachelor degree programs, 87 master degree programs, 3 specialist programs, 91 doctoral degrees and one professional program in over 59 areas of study and 183 field specific concentrations. UCF is well known for being a very culturally diverse institution. It awards more degrees to minority students than most other universities in the nation. It was ranked 12th and 18th nationally, respectively, for the number of degrees it awarded to Hispanic and African-American students.

Five of the University of Central Florida's education programs have been named among the nation's "Best Graduate Programs," including their computer science and engineering programs. The university's ROTC program is also ranked in the top 15% in the US. In 2015, the university was ranked 3rd best among "up-and-comming" national universities by U.S. News & World Report. While the University of Central Florida is primarily an undergraduate institution, many of its graduate programs have been ranked among the top 100 in the country.

UCF is regionally is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges. This means the credits you earn at UCF will be transferrable to any other regionally (or nationally) accredited institution in the nation – which includes most major colleges and universities.

UCF has many competitive athletic programs. The school's sports teams, the Knights, are Division I members of the NCAA's American Athletic Conference.
