University at Buffalo

The State University of New York at Buffalo, formerly the University of Buffalo, is a public 4-year university with campuses located in Buffalo and Amherst, New York. Locally, the university is referred to as University at Buffalo (UB) or SUNY Buffalo. The University at Buffalo, with nearly 30,000 students (20,000 undergraduate and 10,000 graduate), is the largest university in the SUNY system in terms of total annual enrollment.

UB is comprised of 13 somewhat autonomous academic colleges and is home to the largest publicly operated medical school and the only publicly sponsored law school. Even though UB enrollment is made up primarily of undergraduate students, the university still offers a large selection of graduate degree programs. Currently, UB offers more than 100 undergraduate majors, 204 master's degrees, 85 doctoral degrees and 10 professional degree programs.

UB is a public research university with 'Very High Research Activity' as reported by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. In addition to having the largest endowment of any university in the SUNY system is also receives the most research funding and has the largest annual research budget.

The University at Buffalo has been ranked 106th in the nation by U.S. News and 198th in the world by Times magazine. Many of the school's programs are ranked among the top 100 in the nation including engineering and law. UB's faculty are also top ranked. Alumni and faculty at UB include Pulitzer Price winners, astronauts, a Prime Minister, several Emmy Award winners, Nobel laureates, Rhodes Scholars and 3 billionaires.

The University at Buffalo is regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Several of the university's individual academic colleges hold professional accreditations.

University at Buffalo School of Management

The University at Buffalo School of Management holds AACSB accreditation in both business and accounting. It is largest state-operated business school in the state and one of the largest business schools in New York. The school offers Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in accounting and business at the undergraduate level. At the graduate level, the school offers a full-time MBA, part-time MBA, Executive MBA (EMBA), Master of Science in Business and PhD. For students majoring in a subject other than business, the school offers a minor in management.

Online Programs

Through its Graduate School of Education (GSE) the University at Buffalo offers several fully online degree programs that are taught and administered by UB faculty and practitioners. Online programs are offered at the undergraduate level in Education and Counseling. At the graduate level students can pursue an online master's degree in education, technology, library science, math education, music education, counseling or English education; online doctoral degree in Curriculum, Instruction, & the Science of Learning; or Advanced Graduate Certificate in educational technology, gifted education, library science, mental health counseling, online education, business, rehabilitation counseling or music theory. Students can also complete individual course online in various fields of study.
