Tufts University
Tufts University is a private university located in Medford, Massachusetts. It is one of the few research universities to include public service as a core academic mission. Tufts is organized into 10 academic schools which include two undergraduate divisions and eight graduate programs. The university is well known for its focus on public service, internationalism and for its high quality study abroad programs. The university is also home to The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy – the oldest graduate school of international relations in the United States.While the university's main campus is located in Medford, just outside of Boston, it has three other large campuses in the Boston area and another in the French Alps. These include a campus in Chinatown, Boston; Grafton, Massachusetts; and Tallories, France. The university's satellite campus in Talloires, France, at the Tufts European Center, also supports the university's study abroad program in Europe.
Tufts University is consistently ranked among the top undergraduate and research universities in the United States. Forbes has ranked Tufts 15th among research universities and U.S. News & World Report Ranked Tufts 27th in the nation. It found its way to No.17 in 2016 on the EducationCorner.com rankings of Top 100 Colleges in America. Tufts is considered a "Little Ivy" in that it provides an educational experience comparable to the that provide by larger Ivy League institutions such as Harvard, Yale and Dartmouth.
Tufts University has an undergraudate acceptance rate of roughly 15%, making it one of most selective undergraduate higher education institutions in the United States. Each graduate school at Tufts has its own admissions process, policies and acceptance rates. Many of Tufts undergraduate students go on to complete graduate degrees at Tufts or other graduate schools in the area.
