Southern Methodist University (commonly referred to as SMU) is a non-profit, private university based in Dallas, Texas with other campuses in University Park and Highland Park. The university has a satellite campus in Plano, Texas and another in Taos, New Mexico. Southern Methodist University is an affiliate of the United Methodist Church but accepts students from all religious backgrounds and denominations. The university has approximately 6,500 undergraduate students and 4,500 post-graduate students.

SMU offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in more than 58 subject areas and 167 disciplines. SMU awards degrees through seven academic schools: Cox School of Business, Meadows School of the Arts, Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, Dedman School of Law, Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education & Human Development, Perkins School of Theology and Lyle School of Engineering.

In addition to traditional colleges degrees, SMU offers dual/joint-degree programs, distance learning opportunities and study abroad programs overseas. Special programs at SMU include The Guildhall (video game graduate program), SMU-in-Taos (cultural degrees), Engaged Learning (self-designed projects) and University Honors program.

Southern Methodist University is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Cox School of Business

The Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University (SMU) offers an array of top ranked undergraduate and graduate business programs. Degrees offered at Cox include the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), 2-year full-time MBA, part-time MBA Professional, Executive MBA (EMBA), MS in Management and MS in Business Analytics. Cox also offers several executive education and certificate programs for aspiring executives and management professionals who want to hone their leadership skills or acquire skills in a specific business discipline.

Cox is best know for its world-renown, full-time MBA program. The Cox MBA is one of the most selective MBA programs in the world. The Cox MBA, EMBA, BBA and PMBA programs are consistently ranked among the top business programs in the United States. Cox School of Business also places a lot of emphasis on entrepreneurship.

Online Learning at SMU

SMU offers a selection of online courses and certificates in a variety of subjects areas. Areas of study include marketing, hacking, creating apps, web development, project management, technology, business and exam preparation. Currently, Southern Methodist University does not offer online degrees that can be completed entirely online. All degree programs as SMU require campus attendance.
