Santa Clara University, locally referred as "Santa Clara", is a private university affiliated with the Jesuit congregation of the Roman Catholic Church. It has approximately 8,700 students, a full-time academic staff of 516 and a part-time staff of 335. The university was established in 1851 and is located, as its name suggests, in Santa Clara, California. The student-to-faculty ratio is 12 to 1 and over two thirds of classes at Santa Clara have less than 30 students.

Through its six academic colleges Santa Clara University offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. Academic colleges include the School of Engineering, School of Education and Counseling Psychology, Jesuit School of Theology, School of Arts and Sciences, Leavey School of Business and School of Law.
