Occidental College

Occidental College, locally referred to as "Oxy", is a private liberal arts college with just over 2,100 students. It was established in 1887 by the Presbyterian Church and is located in Los Angeles, California. Oxy was one of the first liberal arts colleges founded in California and the first liberal arts college in the LA area.

Oxy offers 31 undergraduate majors, has a student-to-facult ratio of 10 to 1, and has an average class size of less than 20 students. The curriculum at Occidental College focuses on the liberal arts. In order to graduate, students must complete 2 writing seminars, 3 of 6 geography courses, a foreign language, a fine arts course, several math and sciences courses and pass a comprehensive examination their senior year.

Oxy offers several exchange and joint degree programs in engineering, design, law and biotechnology through academic partnerships with the California Institute of Technology, Columbia University, Art Center College of Design and the Keck Graduate Institute.
