Northwestern University

Referred to by locals as "Northwestern" or just "NU", Northwestern University is one of the most prestigious private research universities in the United States. While based in Evans, Illinois, Northwestern University also has campuses in Chicago, Illinois and Doha, Qatar. Altogether, Northwestern offers over 270 undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees in an array of fields and discplines. The university comprises 12 academic schools and colleges.

Northwestern was established in the early 1850s by John Evans, a wealthy politician, in cooperation with several local businessmen and the United Methodist Church. Today, Northwestern is situated next Lake Michigan just north of Chicago on 240 acreas. The university's law, medical and professional schools all operated out of Northwestern's Chicago campus and its journalism and communications programs are offered that Doha, Qatar campus.

Northwestern is one of the largest doctoral-level research universities in the United States. Over $550 million in research is sponsored through Northwestern University every year. With nearly $10 billion, the university also has one of the largest endowments of any university in the nation. Next to Harvard and Stanford, Northwestern is one of the hardest schools to get into. As of 2015, Northwestern had an undergraduate acceptance rate of just 13%.

In addition to providing a world-class academic offering, Northwestern also offers student athletes the opportunity to complete in 19 intercollegiate sports. Northwestern competes in the NCAA's Division 1 Big Ten Conference.

Academics

Northwestern University is regionally accredited through the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Northwestern holds specialized professional accreditation for its psychology, law, chemistry, engineering, medicine, business, music, education and journalism programs. Currently, Northwestern offers over 120 undergraduate degrees and 145 graduate degrees and professional programs.

While the university offers a comprehensive selection of graduate degrees and professional programs, most of students at Northwestern are enrolled in undergraduate level degree programs. Accelerated, honors and dual degree programs are offered in engineering, science, journalism, medicine and mathematics. Many of the university's graduate degree programs are also open to undergraduate students.

Kellogg School of Management

The Kellogg School of Management, commonly referred to as "Kellogg", is currently one of the top ranked business schools in the United States. Kellogg offers both full-time and part-time MBA programs, as well as an executive MBA program for aspiring managers and executives. Partnerships with schools in China, Spain, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, India and several other countries, make Kellogg one the most diverse and international business schools in the nation. Degrees offered through Kellogg include MBA, PhD, MBA-JD, MMM and MBA + MDI dual degree.

Currently, Kellogg is ranked among the top 10 business schools in the nation by US News, BusinessWeek and the The Economist. BusinessWeek recently ranked Kellogg's part-time MBA program number one in the nation.

Online Degrees

Northwestern University now offers online and blending learning opportunities for students at the undergraduate and graduate levels through its School of Professional Studies (SPS). Students are able to participate in online master's degrees and certificate programs in various fields of study and disciplines. However, most students opt to pursue their degree in a blended fashion where they participate in on-campus classes as well as online classes.
