Students enrolled in graduate programs usually specialize in a certain subject or topic. This is unlike undergraduate programs where students study various topics, in addition to a major. Undergraduate students are required to complete general education requirements in math, English, science, and other subjects.
Graduate study is usually concentrated on specific topics designed to prepare students for a specialized profession or university-level research. Graduate students are not only required to successfully complete extra courses, but they are also required to conduct original research and contribute additional knowledge to their specialized area of study.
