Florida International University

Florida International University – locally referred to as FIU – is a public research university located in the metro area of Miami, Florida. The university's main campus is located in University Park and it has two other campuses located in Miami Dade County. With annual enrollment of roughly 54,000 students and an academic staff of 3,300, FIU is the 2nd-largest university in Florida and the fourth largest in the United States.

Florida International University is classified as a first-tier research university with high research activity. It has one of the largest graduate research programs of any higher education institution in the state of Florida. FIU offers over 290 undergraduae majors in 190 areas of study through its 23 academic colleges and departments. It also offers master's degrees (80), doctoratal degrees (30) and professionals degrees (3) in various fields of study, including business, law, medicine, engineering and architecture, among others.

FIU attracts students from across the United States and throughout the globe. Students come from all 50 states and several countries, such as Venezuela, Colombia, Jamaica, India, China and Trinidad and Tobago, to name just a few. Notwithstanding its diverse student population, about 90% of FIU students are from Florida – primarily Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Broward, Orange County and Hillsborough counties. Most students attend class at the university's main campus in University Park.

Florida International University has received several recognitions and awards and is is considered top tier national university. It was recently ranked seventh in the nation by the Social Mobility Index college rankings and was among the top 16 universities in the nation with the toughest grading system. U.S. News & World Report reported that graduates from FIU are among the least likely to graduate with college debt. It has also been ranked among the top "value schools" in the United States. Both its College of Business and College of Law offers top ranked programs.

FIU Online

FIU Online is the online and distance learning division of Florida International University. Through FIU Online students can take advantage of several fully online degree programs and courses via online video or hybrid (online and classroom). Online degrees and distance learning programs are available at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Online degrees are offered in various fields of study including engineering, technology, construction, computer science and management. FIU Online also offers professional development, continuing education, exam review courses, training programs and graduate certificates entirely online.
