Denison University

Denison University is a four-year private liberal arts college located in Granville, Ohio, just east of the more populous city of Columbus. It is was established in 1831 and is recognized as one of the oldest higher education institutions in the state of Ohio and all of New England. The university has a student body of 2,250 and a full-time academic staff of 226. The university belongs to the Five College of Ohio consortium which provides students the ability to cross-register with other consortium schools, which include Kenyon College, Ohio Wesleyan University, Oberlin College and The College of Wooster.

Denison awards Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degrees in various fields of study and disciplines. The most popular areas of study among students include Biology, Psychology, Economics, History, Communication and English. Students also are provided the option of designing their own interdisciplinary major.

Denison is known for the quality of fine arts programs it provides. The university offers majors and minors in art history, music, studio art, theatre, visual art, cinema, and dance. The theatre department at Denison offers students the opportunity to produce several shows a year. While shows are typically produced by fine arts students, through the Denison Independent Theatre Association student outside of the arts department may also act and participate in shows.
