Columbia University in the City of New York

Columbia University in the City of New York, more commonly known as Columbia University, is one of eight Ive League universities in the United States. It was founded in 1754 and is one of just a few universities in the United States to have been founded by royal charter of Great Britain. It was originally established as King's College but its name was changed to Columbia College in 1787 just 33 years after it was founded.

Columbia University is composed of 22 undergraduate academic schools which include Columbia College, the School of General Studies and the School of Engineering. In addition to its main campus in Manhattan, Columbia University has satellite campuses in Beijing, Santiago, Mumbai, Paris, Nairobi, Amman, Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro and Asuncion. Like Columbia University, Columbia Business School has a very stringent admissions process and low acceptance rate. Currently, it is one of the most selective business schools in the nation.

Columbia Business School is best known as the home of one of the top MBA programs in the nation. Only 15% of applicants are admitted to the Columbia MBA Program which prides itself on diversity and accomplishment. Over 60% of Columbia MBA students come from abroad and altogether they speak over 50 languages.

During the first year of the full-time MBA program at Columbia, students are required to complete core curriculum in Financial Accounting, Managerial Economics, Corporate Finance, Managerial Statistics, Leadership, Marketing Strategy and Operations. During the second year of studies, students are able to take elective courses in line with their career objectives.
