Carnegie Mellon University

Carnegie Mellon University is a nationally renown research univerity located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was first established in 1900 as the Carnegie Technical Schools. Twelve years later its name was changed to the Carnegie Institute of Technology and it started offering four-year degree programs. With the merger of the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research, the Carnegie Institute of Technology became the Carnegie Mellon University in 1967.

Carnegie Mellon is comprised of seven individual academic schools and colleges: the Mellon College of Science, the School of Computer Science, the College of Fine Arts, the College of Engineering, the Tepper School of Business, the Deitrich College of Humanities and the H. John Heinz III College. The university has a total annual enrollment of approximately 6,300 undergraduate and 7,100 postgraduate students.

Carnegie Mellon is a one of the top ranked universities in the United States. As of 2015, it was ranked 22nd in the world by Times Higher Education and 65th in the world among top universities by QS World University Rankings. In 2016, Carnegie Mellon was ranked 23rd in the nation among research universities by U.S. News & World Report. Many of Carnegie Mellon's individual department, including Computer Science, Engineering, Psychology and Economics, among others, were also ranked top in the nation among their respective disciplines.

Tepper School of Business

The Tepper School of Business is among the top ranked business schools in the United States. It has been recognized for producing some of the best business leaders and managers in world. The school offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate-level business degrees and programs. One of the schools most popular programs is the four-year undergraduate degree in business administration. Tepper also offers a nationally ranked MBA degree programs with specializations in Business Analytics, Accounting, Business Technology, Finance, International Business, Entrepreneurship, Graphic Communications, Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness, Operations Management and Marketing.

Online and Distance Learning

Through its Open Learning Initiative, Carnegie Mellon University offers online learning opportunities to the public. It also offers current students the ability to complete courses and earn credits online that can be applied toward their degree. Currently, online degree programs are reserved for students that have already been accepted to Carnegie Mellon's campus based program.
