Brandeis University

Brandeis University is a private undergraduate and postgraduate university and research institution located in Waltham, Massachusetts – just west of Boston. The university was first established as Jewish-sponsored institution of higher learning for the local community and was named after Louis Brandeis – an American lawyer and the first Jewish associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Brandeis offers majors and minors in nearly 100 fields of study, concentrations and disciplines. The average class size at Brandeis is less than 20 students the university has an attractive student-to-faculty ratio. Over 25% of Brandeis students are international. Due to its membership in the Boston Consortium, Brandeis students can also register to take courses at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Bost College and Tufts University.

Brandeis is made up of five academic schools which include the The Brandeis University College of Arts and Sciences, The Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis International Business School, The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and Rabb School of Summer and Continuing Studies. Undergraduate majors and minors are offered in over 50 fields of study and disciplines through the College of Arts and Sciences.

Brandeis University has consistently ranked among the top national university in the United States. In 2016, U.S. News & World Report ranked Brandeis 34th in the nation among national universities. Forbes ranked Brandeis 36th. Globally, Brandeis was ranked 185th by Times Magazine. It was ranked among the top 10 university for its economics program by USA Today. Its alumni have been recipients of the Pulitzer Prize, Nobel Prize, Thomas Friedman Award and Academy Award.
