University of Pittsburgh, locally referred to as "Pitt", is a public higher education institution located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Pitt is comprised of 17 academic schools and departments and has a total annual enrollment of roughly 28,700 undergraduate and graduate students – making it the 3rd largest higher education institution in the state of Pennsylvania. Pitt is a research university classified as a 'High Level Research' institution with an annaul research budget of $900 million and an overall operating budget of roughly $2 billion. The university currently receives the 6th largest amount of federal research funding among all research universities in the United States.

While Pitt has a strong focus on liberal arts education, it also offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes instruction in the arts, sciences and humanities. In recent years, Pitt has opened up more and more research opportunities to undergraduate students. At the undergraduate level, Pitt awards Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Philosophy degrees. Pitt also awards graduate certificates, master's degrees, doctoral degrees and professional degrees.

The University of Pittsburgh was ranked 39th in the nation and 58th in the world by the Academic Ranking of World Universities. Many of the school's programs have been ranked in the top 100 in the nation including health sciences. Pitt is consistently ranked among the top public universities in the world. Several college ranking publications have recognized Pitt as a "best value" among U.S. colleges and universities.

Katz Graduate School of Business
The Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business offers a full-time (2-year), part-time and accelerated (1-year) MBA program, a Master of Science in Accounting (MAcc) as well as several PhD programs in business administration and management. Katz is housed within the university's College of Business Administration which also offers undergraduate degrees in business. The school offers an Executive MBA program and several joint/dual MBA degrees programs including the MBA/JD, MBA/MS in Engineering, MBA/MPIA, MBA/MIS and MBA/MIB.

Areas of concentration within the MBA program include Marketing, Finance, Information Systems, Operations Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management and Strategy.

Online Degrees and Education
The University of Pittsburgh offers students various online learning opportunities and degree programs. Online courses are taught by the same faculty to who teach on campus, ensuring that online students receive the same curriculum and quality of education as their campus-based counterparts. The online learning system at Pitt offers a high level of student-to-faculty, student-to-student, and student-to-content interaction. Unlike many online schools and colleges that provide "canned" courses and instruction, Pitt provides an online offering designed specifically to meet the education needs of each student and an individualized learning experience.
