SAT
Colleges and universities throughout the United States rely on the SAT when making admission decisions. This test use to be known as the Scholastic Aptitude Test. It’s a standardized exam used to determine how prepared a student is for college course work. The College Board creates the SAT, but it’s administered and scored by the Educational Testing Service. The SAT has been used by colleges to make admission decisions since the early 1900’s.
The most recent version of the SAT was unveiled in 2005. It takes just under 4 hours to complete. Students within the United States are required to pay $45 dollars to take the SAT; whereas, their foreign peers are required to pay $71. Sometimes additional fees are added to these rates. There are four sections on the SAT: writing, critical reading, and math. The highest score that can be earned on the SAT is 2400, while the lowest possible score is 600. Each section is worth up to a possible of 800 points.
