GRE

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized examination used by graduate schools to determine admission. It is written and managed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). It measures analytical writing, critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and verbal reasoning skills developed by students through the course of their undergraduate studies. The GRE can be completed at computer-testing centers in Canada and the United States. Students living in other countries can take a paper GRE if computer-testing centers are inaccessible where they live.

The amount of emphasis placed on the GRE for admission decisions varies at each school. Some schools heavily rely upon it when making their admission decisions, while others do not consider it as important.
