Amount of Fellowship: Average - $20000, plus research allowance; award is pro-rated for periods of less than 12 months
Application Deadline: 15-January
Scholarship Requirements: Candidate must have completed preliminary coursework and examinations for the doctoral degree and be engaged in dissertation research. Candidates are evaluated on their academic standing, scholarly qualifications, experience, and the quality of the research project or study proposed and its suitability to Smithsonian collections, facilities, and programs. Recipients are expected to spend most of their tenure in residence at the Smithsonian, except when arrangements are made for periods of field work or research travel.
