Outstanding Rural Scholar Recognition Program

The Outstanding Rural Scholar Recognition Program is a Loan sponsored by Office of Rural Community Affairs.

Scholarship information:

Amount of Loan: Minimum - $4537, Average - $23449, Maximum - $43217, tuition, fees, room and board, books/supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.
Application Deadline: Third friday in May; third Friday in September; third friday in January
Scholarship Requirements: "Candidate must be a Texas resident, be enrolled in an eligible Texas institution, and be nominated by an eligible sponsor located in a rural area of Texas. High school applicant must rank in top quarter of class (for a minimum class of 48) or have an overall grade average of "B." Undergraduate applicant must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Essay, three letters of recommendation, and standardized test scores required. Recipient must work in a rural area of Texas one year for each year award is received."
Eligibility: College freshman, College sophomore, College junior, College senior, Doctoral-level study, Master's-level study, Other postgraduate-level education
