Ohio State University is a public higher education institution located in Columbus, Ohio. The university is locally referred to as OSU or Ohio State and is the flagship institution of the Ohio State University System. It is also designated as a Public Ivy University, placing it among the nation’s premier public research institutions of higher education on par with Private Ivy League institutions such as Yale, Harvard and Stanford. Ohio State is the nation’s third largest university based on student enrollment.

Ohio State University was established in 1870 as the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College, a land-grant university. It quickly grew to encompass a broad academic curriculum and in 1878 it adopted its current name. In addition to the main campus in Columbus, Ohio State also operates regional campuses throughout the state.

Ohio State University offers associate's, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees and majors in more than 77 subjects with over 300 specializations. Ohio State is regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and many of its individual academic colleges and departments hold professional accreditation within their field.

US News & World Report has ranked Ohio State University as the 18th Best Public University in the nation and has ranked nearly 20 of the university's individual academic programs among the top ten in the nation within their respective fields, including the university's nationally recognized counseling program.

With an annual enrollment 56,880 students, Ohio State is the largest institution of higher learning in the state of Ohio.

Ohio State has a vibrant campus community. Students participate in over one thousand campus organizations and clubs, including athletics, media and publications, student government and sororities and fraternities.

The school’s athletic teams are known as the Ohio State Buckeyes. In most sports, the Buckeyes compete in Division I of the NCAA's Big Ten Conference. Ohio State sponsors competitive athletic programs such as football, ice hocky, lacrosse and volleyball.

Fisher College of Business
The Fisher College of Business is situated on the north end of the Ohio State University campus. The school enrolls about 4,700 undergraduate students and 120 MBA students each year. Even though most students are undergraduates, the college offers an array of graduate-level business degrees and programs. At the undergraduate level, Fisher offers the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) – with several concentrations. At the graduate level, Fisher offers the Full-time MBA, MBA for Working Professionals, Executive MBA, Master of Accounting (MAcc), Master of Business Logistics Engineering (MBLE), Specialized Master - Finance (SMF), Master of Business Operational Excellence (MBOE), Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) and a Phd in Business Administration – with concentrations in accounting and human resource management.

Distance Education and eLearning
Through its Office of Distance Education and eLearning, Ohio State University offers its students the opportunity to enhance their campus-based education with online learning and instructions. Once accepted to Ohio State, students can participate in various online courses and elearning opportunities as they work toward their degree.
