Harvard University

Harvard University is one of just eight private, and prestigious, private Ive League universities in the United States. The university was founded in 1636 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is the oldest higher education institution in the United States. Not only is it one of the top ranked universities in the nation, it is renown world-wide for the its wealth, influence and academic excellence.

While its main campus is situated on a 209-acre plot in Harvard Yard in Cambridge just a few miles north of Boston, the university has campuses located throughout the greater Boston metro region. With an endowment of just over $36 billion, Harvard is the wealthiest university in the nation–if not the entire world.

With an admission rate of just 5.3%, Harvard University has one of the lowest acceptance rates of any four-year university. Getting into Harvard is very competitive and difficult. Only top students and academics are admitted to Harvard University each year. Harvard's early admission program was discontinued in 2007 and then reintroduced in 2016.

Across the board, Harvard is consistently ranked among the top universities in the nation. For the last several years, Harvard has been ranked either #1 or #2 in the nation. Between 2004 and 2009, Harvard University was ranked number one by QS World University Rankings. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Harvard's undergraduate program among the top two in the nation for several years. In 2014, it was ranked number one by University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP). In 2013, it was named the "dream college" by The Princeton Review. And it holds the top spot on the Mines ParisTech : Professional Ranking World Universities list of universities with the most alumni in CEO positions in Fortune 500 companies.

Harvard is well known for having one of the top ranked business programs in nation. As of 2015, Harvard Business School was ranked #2 in the nation, second only to Stanford University. Harvard Business School offers a top ranked MBA program, doctral business program, HBX (an interactive online learning initiative) and several executive education programs for aspiring managers and business executives.

For the past decade, Harvard Business School has been ranked among the top 5 business schools in the nation. In 2015, it was ranked #1 in the nation by Bloomberg and the Financial Times, and #2 in the nation by US News & World Report. It was ranked #2 in the nation by EducationCorner's top business schools weighted aggregated rankings which includes a weighted composite of five major rankings including Bloomberg, Forbes, U.S. News & World Report, Wall Street Journal and Business Week.
